Career & Internship Center
About UW Career and Internship Center
Equipping students each step of the way with professional connections, academic knowledge, experience, and services, the Career & Internship Center helps UW students achieve their career goals. From interview preparation and resume-writing tools to landing the perfect internship and pursuing future career goals, UW Huskies have access to a wide range of resources through the Career & Internship Center. The center works closely with students to help them build strong professional foundations and confidently enter the workforce. Whether students are preparing for their first internship or applying for full-time positions after graduation, the Career & Internship Center provides services designed to support them throughout the entire process.
How STF Helped
In preparing students for the job market, one of the ways the Career & Internship Center supports students is through resume development and LinkedIn profile improvement. A key part of standing out professionally is presenting a polished and professional online presence, and a high-quality profile photo plays an important role in making a strong first impression. Before STF’s support, the center relied on bringing in professional photographers and hosting scheduled headshot sessions. These events were often difficult to coordinate and could not always accommodate every student’s schedule or needs. Because these sessions happened only at specific times, students who were unavailable often missed the opportunity to receive a professional headshot. Alondra Rodriguez developed a proposal to fund a new self-service headshot booth, and STF stepped in to support the project. The Career & Internship Center now houses a new Iris Booth headshot service that allows students to take professional-quality photos whenever it is convenient for them. Students can receive assistance from Career Center staff or use the booth independently. The booth is free to use and offers unlimited attempts, allowing students to take their time and choose a photo they feel confident using on professional platforms.

The Impact
Located in Mary Gates Hall 134, the Iris Booth provides students, alumni, and faculty with free access to professional-level profile photos. Through STF funding, the Career & Internship Center is able to offer an accessible and long-term solution that supports students as they prepare for internships, jobs, and future career opportunities. The professional headshot booth is one more way STF funding helps equip UW students with the tools they need to succeed beyond the classroom.
