New Computer Lab for School of Art and Art History and Design

School of Art and Art History and Design

About the School of Art and Art History and Design:

A center for creativity and innovation, the School of Art + Art History + Design is filled with students from diverse backgrounds all united by a passion for seeing and reading the visual world. Through research, experimentation, creative thinking, storytelling, and critical dialogue, the program teaches students to develop new and dynamic skills.

How STF Helped:

The School of Art and Art History and Design utilize design, 3D modeling software, and more, supported by PC systems, but lacked the necessary funding to equip over 700 students with the new technology. Previously, the students had to use outdated hardware or had to use an entirely different building across campus to do their work. The Director of IT, Philip Kim, had a vision. Utilizing an old workshop space, he requested funding to create a new Windows computer lab for students. The Student Technology Fee awarded Philip Kim with the funding necessary to make his dream a reality. We gave him the resources he needed to provide a fully functioning space for any student who needs to utilize the technology.

The Impact

Currently, the space is an area for students to learn and expand their knowledge with the necessary tools to be used as a workshop and available for a class setting. Every program on the Windows equipment is paid for and available to students using their Husky ID during the operating hours. RSOs can reserve the space as well to host meetings or workshops to utilize the technology. The team at School of Art and Art History and Design hope to see more students know about and utilizing the space for all of their learning endeavors.
